no beer. seems quesadilla was made with yellow American cheese. my 8 yr old wanted to know why the quesadilla cheese had no flavor. vlt was good. no bread choices. green chili was fair. no beer served. staff did their job, but no smiles and not friendly. bathrooms clean.
Food tasted great. Very nice, friendly staff
Food either undercooked or burned. Ordered an omelet and ham was burned could not eat it. Pancakes were undercooked and no flavor. service was not good, the old lady was not nice at all. Feels like they don’t like their job.
Had sopa burger which was very tasty and tried some taco salad, also good. They pile on lots of home-made fries, unsalted so you can add your own. Recommend this place but they do not serve alcoholic beverages
The food here is great! Jasmine, our waitress, was so sweet even though we walked in 20 minutes to closing time. The chili rejeno was very good as were the cheese enchiladas and tacos and guacamole. The salsa and everything else is homemade. The history sheet on the front desk is very interesting as well.
Food is boring and my fries were tough and undercooked. Waited a good while before receiving our order. Wait staff was friendly, but my fiance ordered a steak meal but received the wrong order. They apologize and said they would fix it, but it took another 30 minutes for him to get his order. When she finally brought it out she said they would remove the order from the ticket. That seemed to be a great compensation for the mix up and extra wait time, HOWEVER when we went to pay the ticket the owner herself, Loretta, told us she meant the WRONG ORDER was to be taken off the ticket. Meaning they would take off an order we never asked for as if this was some sort of courtesy. We were charged for overpriced, below average meals and when we called later to complain Loretta hung up on us. Glad I'm just a visitor to this town but sad it already put a bad taste in my mouth.
I really thought this place could not be any better than the first time I came here. I had gotten the Christmas chili burger and it was amazing. The second time I came was even better! The green chili chicken quesadilla was the best quesadilla I have ever tasted. The service was great and the appetizer came out with the drinks which was really cool. I would give this place 10 stars if I could! My husband and I love this place and will come back again for sure!
Cozy restaurant with exceptionally nice staff. Great burgers and other food as well.
Food was ok, not great. Waitress was nice but had too many tables. Don't eat here if in a hurry.
Something different, something when the mood strikes :) our waitress is a kind, helpful, knowledgeable, etc; we tried different things and the food for us was like this: chips (not complementary) are served cold, guacamole(fantastic!) over salsa and cheese next time, beans are great, rice with tomato sauce, relleno thick breaded, the quesadilla also fried breaded, cool sample to choose we went with green chili, really great! sopapillas for us- thick, too breaded, oily. Cards accepted. Alot of people like it, it got filled.
Great food and the waitress was very attentive, even though we had 30 people, she just kept going. I only hope that we gave her a big enough tip.
Food was awesome as well as the service will definitely be back
Super disappointing. Brought a family group in. Queso was watery. Ordered a child's cheeseburger. There's only a hamburger on the kid's menu. So rather than charge me for cheese, charged me for an adult cheeseburger plate and brought a giant burger to an 8 year old without mentioning that's what they were doing. After bringing food, the waitress brought the check, said she was leaving and we could just pay up front when we're ready. My food was cooked incorrectly, she told me they'd remake it if I really wanted them to. Yes I did! So they scraped the sauces I asked them to hold off my tamale and put the SAME tamale back on my plate (I had tried a small bite so there was a piece missing). It was gross and disappointing.
The service was friendly, but honestly just not enough to save this place in our books. The food was so incredibly sub-par. I hate leaving bad reviews and from the moment we sat down, I was trying to give this place a chance. But everything from the "queso" to the rice to the beans tasted like it came out of a box. Perhaps we're used to more southern and authentic Mexican, and I get that its a small-town restaurant, but the food definitely needs to come up a few notches.
Great family owned and excellent New Mexico food
Enjoyed my favorite combination of side orders for breakfast. . . A side of grilled ham, a side of red chili and two tortillas! Delicious!👍
We got stuck here due to the road being closed they have the best food , everyone was very nice. I'm glad we had to stop .. will be back again some time ..
Stop here! Delicious food, try the chili rellanos! Super friendly staff. Yummy chips and guacamole!
Surprisingly good food, price is fair for serving size. Food delivered quickly to table.
Great food👍👍
Great little place to stop on the way to Colorado. The food is always good and it has a New Mexican flare to it. The chili dishes are tasty. The wait time is a bit long, thus the 4 star rating.
Great food, fast, friendly service. Rabbit ears chips are the best.
We both had chicken fried steak/ it was good/salad and dressing was on the so so side but small right portion for me. Bad thing was the flys.Service was good.
Service was excellent, food was delicious! I got the Cowboy Steak Ranchero w/ green chili... pricing was reasonable. Thank you!
Solid restaurant in Clayton. The food was solid. We went out for Saturday dinner, our food was all edible and satisfying. The service was solid also. Definitely a place to try in Clayton.
Good mexican food. Great location for larger vehicles. Good service
Great place with an awesome atmosphere. Shout out to the owners in there working their tails off. Food was delicious quick service. Will be back if in the area again.
Interesting combination of food. Food was good and service was good. I'd eat there again if in the area
Best green chili around and awesome staff. Price is great too. Every time I am in Clayton NM I love to eat here. All their food is yummy ❤️
I was a first-time visitor here. Employees were awesome and the food was great... I would recommend this restaurant
The grilled chicken fajita salad was amazing. Hint of lime to the chicken that was just perfect. Service was friendly, but kinda absent. Nonetheless it's definitely worth stopping by again.
The food is good, but they would get and KEEP a lot more customers if they would only cook with other cheeses other then just Velveeta cheese. What they spend in putting the proper cheeses on the plates they serve would come back to them in profits.
Good food, good service. Lisa took good care of us while we stopped through on our holiday weekend trip. We were made to feel welcome, even just before closing, on a night when they sold out of steak. The value was good for the money👍
Good cheese enchiladas. Green sauce was very good.
Won't be stopping here again. The waitress was friendly, but that was the only positive. The service was slow and the meal was not very good. I specifically explained to the waitress that I could not physically tolerate anything spicy. Instead of the salsa on the burrito, she suggested queso, assuring me it was not spicy. But when it was served. My burrito was covered and lying in a pool of queso speckled with red and green peppers! Even scraping the cheese sauce off, it was still almost too spicy to eat. Even my side salad was lying in a pool of queso. The sopapilla was a very thin shell and so fragile that it tore when you tried to open it to pour honey in (which leaked out because it was so thin). But the waitress was nice.
We stopped for lunch, tacos and huevos rancheros were great. Wonderful service.
Easy access of highway. Reasonable prices, kId friendly
Great service! Good food.
Nice place, and people. Food is good, a little wait but worth it.
This place has mixed reviews for a reason. Great family joint. It is an easy unassuming eat and leave kind of place. I had read it could take a while to get food so I asked the waitress what was quick out of the kitchen and she advised against burgers cause they take a long time. With two kids under 4 who were hungry and loud and stir crazy after a 7 hour car ride, everyone was nice about it, we tried our best to contain them the 20+ mins it took to get two hotdog meals and two Mexican plates. It looked great. The red and green chilis were very tasty but the consistency and flavor of melted american cheese was overwhelming and disappointing.
The Rabbit Ear Cafe in Clayton, New Mexico, is very accessible on US Hwy 287. We arrived about 6:30 pm. We were promptly seated. Our orders were taken right away and served in a timely manner. We were both pleased with our meals. The menu offers an ample selection. The staff was cordial and efficient. I would eat here again and try a different item.
The service was top and the food was so delicious that everyone was worth tippin.
Food was excellent, service great. Will be back.
I had the chicken quesadillas and it was very good because the chicken was tasty; not dry. They toasted the tortilla to perfection. If you’re in this area and are looking for New Mexico Mexican food, this is the place. The service was excellent; people are so nice and friendly !
Food was excellent, service fantastic, nice appearance. Very clean. We will visit again.
I had maybe the best cheese enchilada I have ever put in my pie hole. It was full of locals for lunch which is always a good sign.
Delicious Mexican food served by very friendly staff at a reasonable price
Nice place! The service and food were great!
Absolutely fantastic a touch of some of the finest cuisine in the area
